Since 2010, Surgi-Med has taken on a new role which has laid the foundation for Cardiology, especially in the Southern half of Trinidad. We are the southern pioneers of the cardiac best practices initiative and the only institution south of the East-West Corridor offering full cardiac service including diagnostic and surgical intervention.

What is the importance of Cardiac Care?
Heart disease is a group of conditions affecting the structure and functions of the heart and may have many root causes. The following attributes can contribute to the susceptibility to heart disease, if you have a strong family history of heart disease, smoke, drink, have poor eating habits and/or a lack of exercise.
As we age, it becomes more important to take care of our heart since the risk for heart disease increases.
To make a diagnosis, you will need to visit a cardiologist who will review your medical history. The doctor will also perform a few other tests before discussing your symptoms and recommending treatment. Specific tests depend on the patient’s particular problem(s) and the physician’s assessment.
